River Roast (Chicago, IL)

We headed back to the Windy City to celebrate our anniversary!  We made reservations at River Roast!  The restaurant was amazing with even better views!

While dining over the Chicago River, we started out with the Burrata, Pork Meatballs and Shrimp and Crab toast appetizers.  The Burrata featured Heirloom tomatoes, Basil and an amazing Balsamic glaze!

The Pork Meatballs were tender and packed with flavor.  The creamy Shrimp and Crab were placed carefully on a delicious triangle of Brioche toast.  This was a wonderful way to get out meal started.

Our main course was their famous whole roasted chicken.  We have heard about this and have seen it on television and decided that this was a must try!  The presentation itself is a showstopper as it is delivered to your table still smoking and turning the heads of other diners.

The perfectly cooked chicken is resting on a bed of potatoes that are basted in the drippings of the chicken.  The result is a mind-blowing flavor burst in the potatoes.  River Roast carves the chicken table side which adds to the spectacle.  The chicken is served very moist and the apple wood smoke comes through in every bite.  This restaurant is an immersive experience where all of your senses are called to attention!

After seeing another table presented with a massive slice of carrot cake, we decided to go in for a piece of our own!  The carrot and parsnip cake was moist and featured a perfectly applied cream cheese icing.  Be prepared as this is one big piece of decadence!  The size of this is perfect for sharing!

The service and attentiveness of the staff was wonderful.  This helped complete our experience at River Roast while we got to soak in the views of this beautiful day overlooking the boats as they traveled up and down the water.  Bring your appetite with you as you are guaranteed to not leave hungry!
