La Canasta Mexicana (Wisconsin Dells, WI)

Looking for a real authentic and simple place to grab tacos? Check out La Canasta Mexicana!

We took a break today and went wine tasting in Baraboo, WI at Baraboo Bluff Winery and Von Klaus Winery. Between tastings we decided to look for a great place to grab lunch. We looked up local places and saw this place called La Canasta Mexicana, it had great reviews so we thought, why not! The name means Mexican Basket, which totally makes sense since it is a food market. Very cool!

Do not let looks fool you! We saw the outside and were like, “Umm, should we try it or go somewhere else? Nope, we are going to give it a shot!” We walked in and found out it is a mini market were you can get Hispanic groceries and there was no menu to be seen. My husband asked the gentleman at the front if they served food and they do; tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Super simple and to the point! Your choices of meat were chicken, beef, and pork! So my husband ordered 3 beef tacos and  I ordered 2 chicken tacos! AMAZING! They were served on corn tortillas, which are our favorite and they were just awesome!

While we were waiting we were able to shop around and check out the cool Hispanic foods. We picked up Poblano peppers, candy for our daughter’s Spanish club at school, and a Mexican sweet bread, which was so good! We have never had it before but felt adventurous!

We would come back in a heart beat! The gentleman at the front counter was very nice and welcoming and answered any weird questions we had about some of the items in the market! This was a great place to grab a quick bite to eat if you are in a hurry or just want to take it to go! Check it out!
